AmazeeLabs is a Web Design/Networking Website all in one. It was created Gregory Gerhardt and Dania Gerhardt. (I'm guessing their married) The design of the website is very unique, and has a very organic feel to it. The colourscheme works very well, although there are a lot of different colours on the page. I also really like the grainy / paper / canvas effect that they have applied to the website, making it feel a bit more welcoming to the viewer. The site is very easy to navigate with the buttons at the top providing everything you need, the front page show's off what they have to offer and is very eye catching! I also really like how they have used speech bubbles for the text boxes, although I have seen it before, I've never seen it used they way they have. They have added some good interactivity into the website, showing a Twitter feed at the bottom, very nice galleries for their work, and also the slide down banner that appears when you click on the newsletter icon. I think this website really works, it stands out from the others, even though it is a simple basic layout, it's the little things that make it what it is

Finsta is an Illustrator / Graphic Artist from Sweden, I couldn't really find much more information than that, but surely it's the end product that counts right? He uses very bold lines & colours and has a very unique style. He has worked for client-el such as MTV, Diesel and also has been known to create a "tasty" Menu!
His website is very tidy, although there is not much too it, it works very well. Starts off as a simple clickable image, taking you to the main website. All of the information is clearly displayed on the left hand side of the page, which are clickable buttons. This then takes you too a series of examples of his work, depending on what type, which again is a clickable button that opens a new window, displaying his work. There could be more interactive aspects on the site, especially with the way things are going in web design, but I am a massive fan of simplistic design. In my personal opinion I think the website would look better centered in the middle of the screen, and maybe enlarged a bit.

Kidrobot is an American Urban style Toy and Apparel Company, based mainly on the web but has a variety of stores worldwide. The company was founded in 2002 by designer Paul Budnitz. Kidrobot is notoriously known for their series of "Munnys" & "Dunnys", which are basically blank toys that you paint on yourself.
On first look the website looks very well presented and clean, using mainly buttons and a Flash object displaying new items that they have to offer. I like the fact that everything you could be looking for is right at the top of the page and is clearly displayed, making the website very easy to use. The neutral colour scheme works very well, and the highlights of colour around the page also compliment the design. The website has various features showcasing Events they are holding, Artists that have designed for them and also includes the Online Store. The Online Store has a Blog-ish style feel to it, and also uses the minimal colourscheme, again this is very easy to navigate. Also the checkout system is very simple and but does request logging into or signing up, which could discourage some users. All in all this is one of the best examples i've seen of a well designed and usable Website/Store.

My first experiences of me really being interested in Multimedia had to be early PC games when I was really young, then moving onto Console, I suppose the thing that strayed me towards Interactive Multimedia was good ol' Myspace! Coding HTML for my profile and experimenting on Photoshop making Gif's. This was shortly before I started studying my A Lvl's, after a while I realized that they weren't right for me, especially studying Maths, Physics & Biology! I then started a 2 Yr Graphic Design course, which I had so much fun , it was one of the first times I realized that I could pick up pc & mac programs pretty easily. I would like to see myself divulging into a few aspects of design in the near future. I would love to be a successful Web & Graphics artist. I'd also love to do special projects such as collaborations with clothing companies & the urban toy design industry. One other sorta-dream of mine would be to work for a skateboarding company, going around filming and just having a laugh! Well I think i'm getting a bit ahead of myself here...

As always music is my biggest inspiration...

3D rational...

Coming from a graphic design course I have not really done a lot of 3D Modeling, and the only time I have done it I used Lightwave. 3D Studio Max is quite a lot different from what I remember Lightwave is so basically I felt like I was starting from scratch but oh well I like a challenge. The only problem about being a mac user is that i couldn't install 3DS MAX on my macbook with out boot camping it which i didn't really want to do, luckily my friends let me use their pc's. I didn't really want to make a really elaborate 3D lair as I didn't want to get ahead of myself and also I love a bit of simplicity. So i thought instead of having a lair full of technology and clutter I thought that if I was a superhero when I returned to my lair i'd want to kick back and relax. I based my main room on something that I have always loved, which is skateboarding. I have always wanted to have my own indoor skatepark for whenever the weather is appalling, so I decided to create my own, suiting my style of skateboarding. The ramps were not really that hard to model as I used basic shapes and bent planes to create transitions on the ramps, and again basic shapes with pipes to create fun boxes with handrails. I then created my house, which is a basic design which a had no problem with, things went smoothly with creating the windows too which I was happy about, but when it came to creating objects for inside the house I really struggled. I wish the 3DS MAX was a lot clearer, as i spent half my time looking for things that I couldn't find. After i had modeled everything i got round to texturing, which seemed simple at first until i moved my 3DS MAX file over to another version, which seem to conflict with the old textures, and whenever I tried to override the texture for some reason nothing happened. This was really unfortunate as I thought that my 3D was going smoothly, I would love to have another try at 3D but maybe on a program that i got on with more. I think that if i would have applied myself more and spent more time getting to know the program i think my project would be a lot better than it is now.

When I started to think about ideas for my interactive quiz I thought i'd try and keep it nice and simple. Personally i think it looks a lot better and also being a newcomer to Adobe Flash I wont be trying to achieve things that are out of my league. First of all I drew out some basic layout designs, then thought about how they would work, so i made a basic template in Adobe Illustrator then tested it out in Flash. Luckily my first background i created worked nicely, so i started thinking about what theme and questions i was going to create for my quiz. I was going to do a fashion quiz but i didn't think it would work that well, so i went back to something that kept me very entertained for my childhood, OLD SCHOOL VIDEO GAMES! This turned out to be a good choice because i had lots of images that were readily available and also I could think of innovative questions. I have never really used Flash before I came to university, my first Flash project turned out ok so i had faith in myself that I could produce something good, but i thought that my action-script skills would let me down. I rented a few books out from the library and completed several online tutorials but I still struggled with more advanced action-script. I need to sit down and figure out Action-script logically, so I can identify my errors and correct them. I used quite a bit of roll over functions in my quiz because i think it gives a nice appearance on screen and its fun for the user, I really wish i could of done the things i wanted to do in my quiz but it just kept going wrong for me so i had to take it back to basics. Such as adding a slider below images, so as the mouse hovers over the image the slider follows it appropriately. I thought that this would look so nice in my quiz but i just couldn't get to terms with adding the different pieces of Action-script into different parts of my quiz. Adding sound to the quiz was quite straight forward, luckily I didn't have any problems with this which I was very happy about. It was the same with adding video as well, it turned out well and also looked very nice quiz. I would of liked to go for top grades and add an embedded Youtube player into my quiz but again I really struggled with the advanced action-script. I even drew out a few sketches for skinning the player, but it was really out of my league. Overall I really enjoyed this project, it was probably my favorite out of the three, I am looking forward to doing the Interactive pathway next year, as I hope that I can get some more 1 on 1 tutoring in the seminar, as thats how I feel I learn best.

Before I came to university I studied Graphic Design & Interactive Media @Burton College, It gave me a chance to try a bit of everything, such as Graphics, 3D Modeling, Animation, and various other paint based subjects. I would say that most of my best work that I produced was through Graphic Design, such as surface graphics, and layout design. I enjoyed the web design side of it a lot, but only did one project which sux, as I think I could see myself getting alright at it. I have also got some little side projects in the works, such as designing for my friends clothing company, and also doing some artwork for one of my friends. This has been my pathway 100%, I could of done a lot of things during my course, but I stuck to what I enjoy the most. At the moment I kinda have an idea on what I wanna do when I’m older, I feel like I have to decide what I’m doing now, when I still have a lot of work ahead of me in the upcoming terms. At the moment I’m thinking going down the Interactive Media route, I think that it would suit me the best as it incorporates the design side that I enjoy the most, and also it could provide a lot of different opportunities for me. Research could help me in a couple of ways, such as Exploratory & Interim Research, like researching new designers, and seeing what upcoming trends are happening in the design world (like gradients on buttons (; )
Also I could perform online tutorials to help develop my skills, practice makes perfect? I don’t think I can say I feel wary of any of the research methods, or irrelevant really, I think that they all serve their own purpose and they can all be used in their own ways to aid me.

I am still undecided which pathway to choose for my course, im swaying towards the interactive media side at the moment, but i'd like to complete some more projects before i make my final decision. Compared to some of my other friends in my class, they seem quite focused on their route, which i suppose could be a good thing really.

this was my first attempt at a one shot film. basically we couldnt take the camera off the tripod and no cuts involved. i had a right laugh filming this with my group, the initial idea was to film a sequence upto a night out, and this is how it went...

I re-vamped the blog a bit, looks cleaner now i think which is better. Seeing as i'm doing a One shot video for my next project i thought i'd post a video on here by the guys at www.aooa.tv I found these guys about a year back, watching their filming of the Forma T parties in Belgium and France, and omg i need to go to one of those! This guy is a very good photographer / filmer! I like the way how he edits with the bass kicks and i especially like the filters he uses in this video! Props to AOOA go check them out! ENJOY.

Its 3:40 A.M and my sleeping patterns have been so messed up since i moved to nottingham, finding myself watching random shows on my laptop and playing pokemon silver. I should be using this time for more productive stuff, but my attention span isn't so good! I thought i'd post one of my friends remix's on here, along with the logo that I designed for him.

This is my blog for uni, i am currently studying a BA in Multimedia, so hopefully this should be updated regularly with different types of stuff! I am currently working on a stop motion animation video which should be up on here ASAP!
